Club Profile: Car Club

Jace Nistane ’26

Sergio Karam ’23, the president of the Strake Jesuit Car Club, restarted the club in his junior year of 2022 and has created a place where people can go and talk about cars and only cars.

In August 2019, Sergio had just joined Strake Jesuit as a freshman, and during that time the Car Club was dying. The year of 2020 through 2021 was a Covid-filled year, with limited club activity, but in 2021 Sergio and Mr. George got to work, and soon the car club was back in business.

The Car Club tries to meet once a month, but sometimes that is not possible. According to Sergio, “[I] try to do fewer events, but better events.” In other words, he prefers quality over quantity. These events include the K1 speed go karting, Spring Fling Car Show, and the car meet in front of Loyola Hall.

If the car club isn’t doing one of these fun activities, they’re in Loyola Hall talking about one of the world’s historic car brands. After surveying of some car club members, I found that anyone who joins the car club has lots of fun in it.

Sunday, March 5th, we had Spring Fling. During Spring Fling, there was a Car Show. If you love cars, the Car Show was the best place to be. Some cars there included a Lamborghini Huracan and a Lamborghini Huracan STO a RWD, 5.2L V10, track car pushing 630hp!

It’s safe to say, the Car Club’s 209 members are all happy, making the Car Club a great place to be for any car lover.
