Faculty Profile: Mr. Frank Lieggi

Owen Gibney ’24
Mr. Frank Lieggi is an AP Economics teacher in his second year at Strake Jesuit.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois but spent most of his life in California. He went to Chaminade College Preparatory High School and then attended University of California, San Diego; University of San Diego; and University of California, Irvine for undergraduate and graduate studies. He worked at Morgan Stanley in New York, was an Italian diplomat for several years (so he has dual citizenship), and much more.
After moving to Houston before the 2021-22 school year, a city he had never visited before, Mr. Lieggi quickly became fond of our campus. He taught AP World History and AP Economics last year and Chemistry and Debate Camp in the summer. He enjoys cooking, gardening, symphony, museums, soccer, reading, and traveling to Italy.
“I am blessed to be here at Strake Jesuit because of the stellar reputation as a Catholic Jesuit School that exemplifies “Men for Others.’ The school culture that integrates faith, academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities is what I appreciate most about Strake Jesuit,” Mr. Lieggi said.
He is clearly very experienced and is also very passionate about teaching. As a student in his class, I know from firsthand experience that he knows a lot about topics that you probably have never thought about. You will always learn something new or change your perspective on the world in his economics class.
Josh Cortes ‘24, a student in his AP Economics class, said, “He is very interesting and always has a story to tell.”
Mr. Lieggi encourages engagement and real life application in class because he not only wants us to succeed academically but he also wants us to be wise decision-makers in the future.
Another junior Cash Johnston said, “He is bold and fun.”
Say hello to Mr. Lieggi if you see him ,and maybe ask him an interesting question if it crosses your mind.
