“It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” -Socrates

Strake Jesuit students should increase their exercise to improve their health, enhance their physical appearance, and strengthen their body. The benefits are many.

Exercise does not just mean “lifting heavy weights.” It can mean a wide variety of things, from just going on walks everyday to doing programs like CrossFit, or even playing sports like tennis. The opticians are unlimited.

There are many reasons why someone should start working out, most of them having to do with the overall health benefits, like the improvements it has on your heart and your mental health. It can even improve your appearance and give you a healthy look.

Exercises have been scientifically proven to increase overall mood and mental health. Exercise releases endorphins, which alleviate stress. After a long day at school, a few quick exercises is one of the best ways to relax.

Furthermore, exercising can help to build community and friendships. The community of people will provide a large amount of support. Without ever focusing on one’s skill level or strength, people will always be willing to give out advice and congratulations on any milestone achieved.

Through going to places like gyms or tracks, one can meet people with the same hobbies. Over time you will be able to continue the cycle, where you can give newer people help and encourage them through their own journey.
