Boredom cure just a flick away

As all of you very well know by now Covid-19 has brought a screeching halt to much of our daily lives. Many people have been searching for ways to use up this newfound stockpile of extra time, and though I have heard a lot of teachers and other adults scoff at spending time on Netflix, I believe movies are a great way to spend some time by yourself or with friends and family.

Netflix seems to be somewhat of a universal streaming platform these days, and some of my favorite movies from the media giant are: Step Brothers, Inception, Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and (one of my personal favorites) Inglourious Basterds

I think everyone, myself included, needs time to destress and stop worrying about everything going on, even if just for a little bit. Laughing is one of the greatest ways of doing this, and I am pretty certain that the movie Step Brothers will have you gasping for air by the end of it. If you enjoy Will Ferrell then you are going to absolutely love this movie. This movie is ridiculous to the max, perfect for a high school audience.

Inception is what I wish superhero movies like the Avengers saga was more like. The former offers an action-packed and extremely exciting ride, while also putting some twists and turns into the movie that left me on the edge of my seat while watching it. If this movie doesn’t blow your mind, then nothing will.

I doubt many people have missed the classic that is Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark, but, if so, this movie is definitely worth revisiting. Raiders is unrivaled by any other adventure movie, with Harrison Ford in the prime of his career. If you are a Star Wars fan definitely check this movie out, there are a host of similarities between the two cult classics.

A movie I can’t say enough good things about is Inglourious Basterds. The Tarantino film, which follows many of the Tarantino tropes that have been common throughout his career, brings a ridiculous twist to a World War II storyline. The movie mixes comedy with action and drama, and never fails to stay entertaining. This movie didn’t have a dull moment for a second, and it is one of my personal favorites.

Sitting at home in quarantine can definitely be a stressful situation, take a moment to look away from the news and ease your mind with a Netflix movie or two.
