Tennis off to a strong start

As the new school year began, the Strake Jesuit tennis team wasted no time jumping into preparation for their new season. With the addition of various excellent new players, the teams finished their tryout only two days after the start of school.

Different from other years, the players were separated into two teams: district team and developmental team. The district team consisted of players who will compete in matches against other schools. The developmental team is made up of extremely promising players who just need a little more practice to be able to participate in matches against others.

The district team immediately started practicing and getting ready for their upcoming matches.

With less than a week of preparation, the SJ tennis team marked the beginning of their fall season with a match against Katy Taylor. Different from the tournament format, player on the will play one single and doubles match. Wishing for a strong start, all players played their best and competed admirably. “They were really fun, it was a great way to play some intense tennis while having fun with your friends,” Alex Psifidis ’23 said after winning both of his matches.

In the end, the SJ team won 16-11. Go, Crusaders!!!
